Photography is not only a visual depiction of reality – it is a poetical associative expression which connects people around the world.

La chaleur d’un baiser…

This video for ST EMILE with Corinna Drengk and André Hamann is one of my favourite clips. It still touches me because the protagonists are just so sensual.

About Alek

Wonderful Alek Wek for ST EMILE. Alek is more than just a fashion model. She is an advisor to the U.S. Committee for Refugees Advisory Council, a missionary for World Vision and the face of the African Originals. Her autobiography FROM SUDANESE REFUGEE TO INTERNATIONAL SUPERMODEL came out in 2007.

For me Vienna is a paragon of creativity and inspiration. The mixture of tradition, modernity and free spirit attracts and stimulates me.

Ulrike Tschabitzer-Handler, Andreas Bergbaur and Andreas Oberkanins founded UNIT F BÜRO FÜR MODE, with the aim to fund and support Austrian fashion designers who have the potential to establish themselves on the international fashion market. The book FASHIONING AUSTRIA, UNIT F BÜRO FÜR MODE 2000 – 2013 shows highlights of the UNIT F years.

Excerpts of the book with images I did for THE FESTIVAL FOR FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHY, Vienna.

Collage featuring fashion portraits of three models and promotional text for a fashion and photography festival organized by "8" magazine. Models are styled in eclectic outfits against a dark background. The number "8" is prominently displayed in white.
Three-panel image. First panel: a man standing outdoors with a dog, wearing a jacket, shorts, and sneakers in a lush green setting. Second panel: a black and white photo of a man sitting on a chair in a dimly lit room, wearing jeans and boots. Third panel: a man cycling on a road beside a brick wall covered with graffiti and greenery.

A selection of campaign images I shot for the Austrian fashion brand WEBER + WEBER SARTORIA.

A person wearing black gloves is holding and manipulating the pages of an open book. The left page features large text in German, while the right page has a painted pattern and text partially manipulated with a brush-like tool. The setting is dimly lit with a dark background.

Gotteswerk

We are very grateful and proud that this is already the fourth year in a row to create the look of GOTTESWERK magazine. This year’s edition carries the motto Trial and Error. We felt that it was a perfect opportunity to juggle with the notion of experimenting. Our author designed a vital concept in cooperation with numerous photographers. One of them, the photographer Joachim Baldauf, shares his views on experimental photography in an interview. On the cover you find a puzzle and a removable shiny black substance – that we ourselves experimented with for the first time – so that you can go for own attempts to change the reality of an image and a text.

New Shores

It is very exciting when you get the opportunity to work in a genre in which you have had little experience before. This is what happened with the productions for GAULT&MILLAU. The creative director Albert Handler and the editor-in-chief Ursula Macher entrusted me with productions in which I photographed winegrowers and their wineries. I also portrayed top chefs and actors with an affinity for wine for the book DIE BESTEN WEINE DEUTSCHLANDS and the GAULT&MILLAU magazine.

There is no big difference between freelance and commissioned work for me. It is and remains photography, my passion.

Rarely have I been as excited as I was with this shoot. The photo was taken in the papal apartment in the Vatican, since Georg Gänswein was the private secretary of the pope. I guess I don't have to say more about that...

Working with BUERO UEBELE is always exciting and leads to special results. Here a campaign motive for the bag manufacturer BREE, which was created with the Stuttgart design office.

THE BERLIN PORTFOLIO

In his BERLIN PORTFOLIO images are shown in which the fashion photographer Joachim Baldauf constructs an authentic relationship between people and places that unfolds a fascinating, timeless charisma.

-LEICA FOTOGRAFIE INTERNATIONAL

An excerpt of my Berlin portfolio, which was published in LFI magazine. For this extensive feature I photographed my very personal Berlin.

Collage of four images: a black and white photo of a person in a trench coat and boots, a modern blue apartment building, a black and white photo of a person with earphones, and a vintage telephone beside a lamp on a bedside table with floral wallpaper.

Instead of a classic portrait, this photo appeared as THE SECOND FACE on the cover of SÜDDEUTSCHE ZEITUNG MAGAZIN. In the magazine there was a series with different chest hairs, i.e. different SECOND FACES.
